  • Calling all Bronx Professionals: We are looking for Bronx leaders interested in participating in this program, which will run from October til June and consist of two monthly meetings on Friday mornings. One monthly meeting will consist of seminars on organization issues such as strategic planning, marketing, working with the media, navigating City government and more. The other meeting will be a smaller committee meeting, where Fellows are charged with tackling an issue and learning how to work together to create a program or event.   • Bronx Community Map for Youth Services: Does your organization serve youth in the Bronx? If so, please complete this brief questionnaire so you can be included in our Bronx Community Map. This opportunity is being organized by the We Are The Bronx Fellowship. Click here to be included.

  • Annual Meeting and Elections of the JCRC-NY: On Wednesday, June 23 at 5:15 pm, come to the UJA-federation of New York located on 130 East 59th Street for the annual meeting and elections of the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York, with guest speaker Hon.   • Habitat for Humanity Free Workshops: Habitat for Humanity - New York City is providing free workshops for New York City consumers on the details of new credit card reforms, how to understand their credit reports, tips for improving their credit scores and where to go for help when they face a credit crisis. We’ll give members of your congregation, school, or community group vital information about credit cards and debt. All inquiries are welcome.   • Youth, I.N.C. Celebration Program Information Session: Are you seeking an opportunity to raise unrestricted funds for your organization? Come to an information session to learn about Youth I.N.C.’s Celebration Program, a fundraising training program for grassroots nonprofits. Celebration is a unique, learn-by-doing program for youth-serving nonprofit organizations in New York City.   • Divorce and Custody Mediator Training: This comprehensive, ACR/AFM-accredited mediator training program is a combination of role-play, lecture, simulation, discussion and videotapes of actual mediation. This five-day workshop walks participants through the process of divorce and custody mediation from the orientation session to the completed memorandum of understanding.   • Helen B. Atkinson Health Center Event: Community Healthcare Network will be hosting the Malcolm Shabazz Market Juneteenth Event on Saturday, June 19th from 12pm-7pm at 116th St. between Malcolm X Blvd (Lenox Ave) & 5th Ave. Helen B. Atkinson Health Center will be participating in Malcolm Shabazz Market’s Juneteenth Health Fair. Event includes free health screenings, giveaways, music, games, etc. Screenings include: HIV counseling & testing, pregnancy testing, blood pressure & glucose checks. Click here for more information.
  • Family Support Group: The Coalition For Parole Restoration is a grass-roots non-profit organization created to inform, organize and bring to light all aspects of the prison industrial complex as it affects our families, communities and people in prison. Our mission is two-fold to assist people in prison obtain parole and to assist formerly incarcerated person and their families with transition and re-entry.   • Healthcare Reform Website: www.healthreform.govis the central federal hub for all information related to health reform and contains many resources. The website also hosts frequent webchats.
  • Domestic Violence Workshop: Our 10 weeks “Domestic Violence or Family Violence” workshop will be offered to parents, caregivers, and anyone who feels that are suffering from Domestic Violence (DV). This program will be offer in English & Spanish on weekdays only. The English program will begin on Tuesday, June 1st, 2010 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and the Spanish program will begin on Thursday, June 3rd, 2010 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.   • Greater Brooklyn Health Coalition Health Affair: The Program & Information Committee of the Greater Brooklyn Health Coalition will be sponsoring a Health Affair at Brooklyn Public Library on the Plaza of the Central Library.   • The 2010 Census is Here: The Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs wants to be sure that every New Yorker knows: “The 2010 Census is Here – Every New Yorker Must Be Counted!” Starting March 15th, Census forms will be mailed to every household in New York City. We are calling on you to assist in this tremendous effort by getting the word out about the importance of every New Yorker participating in the 2010 Census. Click here for more information.
  • Manhattan Multicultural Summer Youth Program: In this extraordinary two week summer program for youths, ages 16-21, you will visit the united nations, go on trips around NYC to sacred places, museums, and meet incredible people your age from all different backgrounds.   • Brooklyn Food and Fitness Task Force Basic Advocacy Training Series: This training is for community members interested in advocating around food and fitness in North and Central Brooklyn. In order to learn advocacy in a “hands on” way, the participants will explore strategies and policies that promote public safety in Farmers’ Markets and Parks.   • Certificate Courses on the Topics Most Requested by Nonprofit Organizations: The NonProfit HelpDesk (NPHD), itself a nonprofit, helps community-based nonprofit organizations build capacity to serve their clients.   • Peer Advisory Community Teams: NonProfit HelpDesk offers a new program called PACT (Peer Advisory Community Teams) for leaders of nonprofit organizations. Peer advisory boards, sometimes called mastermind groups, have long been used by business people to create a safe haven where leaders faced with similar challenges gather to connect and consult with each other, share experiences, create accountability for each other, and get advice and support.
