Dear Supporters,

Construction begins on new high school in El Fasher, North Darfur

DPDO has completed drilling and installation of Gangy High School’s well system. The well delivers 2,000 gallons of water every hour, enough to provide ample water for high school students and staff, as well as for neighboring homes and businesses.

The foundation of the main building was laid in January 2010. Completion of construction is set for the first week of May, so students may register for classes beginning in June.

The original sponsors, David and Donna Frieze, have agreed to match all new donations up to $50,000 for the construction of the high school. For more information on the progress of Gangy High School, click here.

The goal of this process is to help the people of Darfur form a coherent negotiating platform upon which to negotiate a durable peace with the Government of Sudan.

Support Darfuri working women

The DPDO Women’s Centers in Kassab and Abu-Shouk IDP camps have experienced tremendous growth in recent months.

The Women’s Centers now produce 400-500 baskets per month. The weavers rely on income from basket sales to feed and clothe their families. The Centers also provide literacy, first aid, and solar cooker training. Over 400 women are on our waiting lists. Your support enables DPDO to continue and to expand services offered to displaced women.
