The Asthma Center at Long Island College Hospital is a multidisciplinary service providing state-of-the-art, systematic clinical care, education and prevention strategies for asthmatic patients and their families. Our board certified physicians are regionally renowned in the areas of Allergy and Immunology, Pediatrics and Pulmonary Medicine. We offer comprehensive diagnostic services and treatment strategies for the asthmatic patient. The Asthma Center at LICH is equipped with centralized scheduling service that allows a single point of access for all patients, an asthma registry for the identification and tracking of medical histories. The Crown Heights Mediation Center is a safe, neutral place where young people and adults in Crown Heights can come to express concerns, settle disputes, and work together to achieve common goals. Mediation is a process in which people involved in a dispute sit down with an impartial third party trained in conflict resolution to help them identify issues, create options, and find mutually satisfactory solutions. Among the issues tackled by the Center's volunteer mediators are: breach of contract, consumer/merchant disputes, co-worker disputes, multi-cultural disputes, employer/employee conflicts, harassment, landlord/tenant disputes, noise complaints, and small claims. The Center also provides family mediation, which deals with issues like truancy, acting out in school, power struggles within the family, special education needs, youth employment and other parent/teen issues.
