WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO

New York has historically been seen as the epicenter for upwardly striving immigrant populations. As documented in the 2000 Census, the area has undergone a demographic transformation on an unprecedented scale and we anticipate more changes in the future.  As home to over 210 language, ethnic and religious groups, New York institutions and neighborhoods face multi-level issues with the increasing diversification of area residents.

CAUSE-NY, a division of the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York, serves as a nexus between community-based organizations and public and private institutions.  It works to assist communal leadership and public policy makers to develop culturally competent strategies, partnerships and initiatives to deal effectively with the full range of issues confronting today’s urban communities.

Community Uplink brings together the New York community by publishing timely news and events from diverse ethnic, religious and racial groups to keep all informed.  It enables all to share in up-to-date information to improve our quality of life.
