New York City historically has been perceived as an epicenter for upwardly striving immigrant populations. As documented in the recent 2000 census, the City has undergone a demographic transformation on an unprecedented scale during the past several decades.  As home to more than 180 different language and ethnic groups, New York institutions and neighborhoods face a plethora of issues concomitant with the increasing diversification of the City’s residents. Changing demographics are significantly impacting life in communities throughout the City on multiple levels.

CAUSE-NY, a division of The Jewish Community Relations Council of New York's Commission on Intergroup Relations and Community Concerns, serves as a nexus between community-based organizations and public and private institutions. Communal leadership and policy makers from public and private sectors will be better equipped to develop strategies, partnerships and initiatives to more effectively deal with the full range of issues confronting today’s urban communities.

Community Uplink brings together, in a journal-style forum, significant news and events from the diverse ethnic, religious and racial groups in New York. Community Uplink offers the media arm needed to update the wide variety of active bodies in the greater New York Community.  Community Uplink works to engender a community capable of wielding the most up-to-date tools of the trade to improve the quality of life for all New Yorkers.
